Ecoresponsibility Voyer: Through its own environmental conservation and reclamation projects, Construction Voyer is helping encourage the construction industry to adopt work methods and practices that take in to account the issue of sustainable development at the social, economic and environmental level.

The idea of sustainable development is in the news these days, provoking all kinds of discussions.  The older generation wants to leave a clean, healthy environment for their offspring while young people tend to be more focused on protecting the environment.

Aware of these general concerns, and in collaboration with managers, employees, suppliers and other stakeholders, Construction Voyer has established an internal policy to promote sustainable development practices.

Construction Voyer is hopeful that this combined effort will benefit everyone, especially new home buyers who want to entrust the construction of their new home to a company that shares their vision of the future.

Containers of mixed materials generated by our construction sites are first sorted and then sent to TRIA Ecoservices where the waste is recuperated, reused, and recycled as much as possible, in order to minimize the amounts sent to landfill sites.

Wood: Once ground up and cleaned of debris, the wood is sent to a transformation centre to be made into plywood, or to a factory or mill to be used for heat generation.

Cement: As in the recycling of wood, once the cement is crushed, it is reused, this time, as the subgrade layer in road construction.

Gypsum: When it is cleaned and the cardboard layer removed, gypsum is used in the production of new sheets of gypsum.

Metal: Sent to companies specializing in metal recycling where it is transformed into recycled raw materials.

Cardboard/Paper: Stacked in pallets and returned to paper/cardboard manufacturers, it is used in the making of new raw materials.

Plastics: Certain plastics can be recycled and used in the production of new products.

Asphalt Shingles: Used in maintenance and road repair.

 

Managing residual materials is an important issue for Voyer.

The 3R MCDQ organization works with both those who produce construction, renovation and demolition waste as well as those who recover, reclaim, and reuse those same materials.

3R MCDQ brings together stakeholders from all regions of Quebec in the common purpose of promoting the advancement of the recycling industry including its work to reclaim, recycle, and repurpose non-compostable waste materials. Construction Voyer is proud to be doing its part.

As a member of the 3R MCDQ organization, Construction Voyer supports the representation of the industry’s perspective to various government representatives.

3R MCDQ also promotes business partnerships among its members as well as in the industry as a whole, and encourages the exchange of information among government, regional and municipal decision makers.

It is an important initiative that helps advance the idea of sustainable development across the industry.
